How did you meet?
We met in October 2020, our junior year of college! Although we have told MANY of our family and friends we met at a bar... or through mutual friends... or at a party... the TRUTH is we met on a dating app. Rachel's roommate/best friend (Belle) had created a dating profile for her, but Rachel rarely used it. Despite this, the unexperienced dating app user, Rachel, SUPER LIKED Mac. If you ask Rachel, she will tell you that it was an accident (a REALLY GOOD accident)! We met soon after this and the rest is history!
Who made the first move?
Mac!
What first attracted you to each other?
Rachel says: The first time I met Mac it was hard not to notice how handsome (and TALL) he is! As we spent more time together, I quickly began to admire his kind and laid back personality. Mac always makes sure I am spoiled and never fails to make me laugh! We have truly been inseparable since the day we met, and I am so excited to marry my best friend!
Mac says: She is absolutely drop dead gorgeous (I mean have you seen her!). Although the first time I visited her house she opened the door with 2 cats in her hands and me being extremely allergic was worried I may be destined for a lifetime of sneezing due to cats (thank god they were her roommates!). As I got to know her more I fell more and more in love with the incredibly kind and caring person that she is. One of the many things that I love about Rachel is her love and dedication for her work with dance, getting to see the things she is able to create and how excited she gets when her dancers perform!
What is your favorite memory with each other?
Turns out we both have the same favorite memory! After graduating college, we took a vacation to the Florida Keys. We stayed in a little condo, and had the BEST time. We enjoyed lots of amazing coffee, sunshine and key lime everything (Rachel's favorite!). The highlight of our trip was exploring the town of Key West. We spent most of our day on the beach, and capped it off with a sunset booze cruise. It was amazing!
We ended the trip getting impromptu tattoos in Miami before our flight left! This is a day we will never forget!
What is your favorite way of spending time together?
Rachel says: I love to cuddle on the couch with a good movie or head to the brewery to play cards. Of course our pup Georgie is always included on these, too!
Mac says: Any amount of time we spend together is amazing but some of my favorites also include going on brewery dates, watching a good movie or show together (we have the hardest time deciding what to watch so that is certainly not my favorite part of it), any activity with our dog Georgie, or cooking a delicious meal together (just don’t let me attempt to bake anything).
How did you get engaged?
We moved into our townhome December of 2023, Rachel complained that we did not have many pictures together to hang on our walls. For our 3 year anniversary, Mac booked a photo session with a photographer! This all made sense, as it came just a few weeks after Rachel had made her complaint at our lack of good photos, so she didn't question it or get too suspicious. As we got closer to the photos Rachel got more suspicious but was constantly shot down by everyone she questioned (thank you to everyone who lied to her so she didn't find out!). On the day of the photos Mac thought she had figured it out as the first song Rachel played on the drive to the photos was Marry You by Bruno Mars (turns out this was just a coincidence). Once we got there we took a lot of photos as normal and then went to a new location, where it all went down. We were placed back to back and told on the count of 3 to turn around and hug! While Rachel was excited to turn and hug, Mac dropped down to a knee and took the ring out. Rachel was so surprised! After the initial shock calmed a little, we took more photos. As we were getting ready to leave, Ray (Rachel's Sister-in-Law) showed up with our puppy Georgie, so she could be in some photos!
